Brooklyn Nets Sign Nerlens Noel to a 10-Day Contract
Noel Returns to the NBA After a Month-Long Absence
Free Agent Center to Bolster Nets' Frontcourt Depth
The Brooklyn Nets have announced the signing of center Nerlens Noel to a 10-day contract. The 6'11", 220-pound center began the 2022-23 season with the Detroit Pistons but was waived in December. He has since been a free agent.
Noel is a seven-year NBA veteran who has also played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, and Oklahoma City Thunder. He was selected with the sixth overall pick by the New Orleans Hornets in the 2013 NBA Draft.
During his NBA career, Noel has averaged 7.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. He is known for his defensive versatility and rim protection abilities.
The Nets are hoping that Noel can provide some much-needed frontcourt depth. The team has been dealing with injuries to Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons, and Noel's addition should help alleviate some of the pressure on Nicolas Claxton.
Noel is expected to make his Nets debut on Tuesday against the Houston Rockets. He will wear jersey number 35.
